
If I had to listen to this song on repeat, I’d probably have a wonderful Saturday morning. Which I have, thanks to Nespresso coffee capsules and this Silverlake-based garage country duo named Eekis.
“If I” is lead singer Paul Bergmann’s introspective ballad about the pain of wishing you were everything you’re not, yet lacking the courage to be that person. It’s heartfelt, with a strain of Johnny-Cash-sad, but has enough folky pop to pull itself from the cellar and join me in the gaze of unabashed Los Angeles sun.
