Eekis – If I

On by Alex Mitchell In Music | comment

Eekis

If I had to listen to this song on repeat, I’d probably have a wonderful Saturday morning. Which I have, thanks to Nespresso coffee capsules and this Silverlake-based garage country duo named Eekis.

“If I” is lead singer Paul Bergmann’s introspective ballad about the pain of wishing you were everything you’re not, yet lacking the courage to be that person. It’s heartfelt, with a strain of Johnny-Cash-sad, but has enough folky pop to pull itself from the cellar and join me in the gaze of unabashed Los Angeles sun.

Zella Day – Slow Me Down

On by Alex Mitchell In Music, Videos | 2

SoCal based Zella Day definitely has some noteworthy songwriting chops on her. The lovely young songstress recently dropped this live performance of her new Folk Pop track, “Slow Me Down” – which you can see below. It will be interesting to see what else this talent has coming down the road. If you dig her music, then also check out the full session with Zella from this video, which includes a candid take on an additional new track “Undertow”, courtesy of the guys at B3SCI right here.
